The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Koholic is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Koholic scores with a kick to the body.
Koholic moves into the clinch successfully.
Riberio tries to pull guard but Koholic won't allow it.
Riberio tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Koholic smiles and moves away.
Riberio tries for a takedown but Koholic sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Al Koholic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Marcelo Riberio. Koholic is looking to clinch but Riberio is avoiding it.
Riberio throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Koholic's waist but Koholic gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Riberio off to one side. Koholic moves into range and clinches up with Riberio. Riberio jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Koholic walks away with a smile on his face. Riberio gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Riberio tries to keep at a distance but Koholic has taken the fight into the clinch. Koholic stops a takedown attempt from Riberio.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Koholic just misses with a elbow thrown towards Riberio's brow. Koholic gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Riberio.
Koholic breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Koholic tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Koholic. No joy for Riberio on that attempt. Koholic gets a clinch. Riberio jumps guard but Koholic stands there with Riberio around his waist. Riberio gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Koholic lands a left hand that snaps the head of Riberio backwards. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. A short left from Koholic. Riberio has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Koholic uses from the top position. Koholic controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Koholic has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Riberio keeping full guard, as Koholic tries to pass. Koholic knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Riberio on the ground.

Koholic controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Koholic might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Koholic seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Riberio for as long as he can get away with.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Al Koholic just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Koholic tries to clinch there but Riberio circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riberio shoots in and drives through. Koholic sprawls well. Riberio keeps the fight on the outside. Al Koholic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Riberio fails with a takedown attempt. Koholic pushes Riberio up against the cage in a clinch. Riberio tries to pull guard but Koholic won't allow it.
Koholic gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Riberio is staying active underneath Koholic, who seems content to just control the action from this position. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Koholic can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Koholic is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Al Koholic dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Koholic tries to clinch but Riberio is having none of it. Riberio tries to clinch up and Koholic counters by moving into the clinch. Koholic breaks the clinch.
Koholic looks to clinch so Riberio counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Riberio trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Koholic keeping moving, preventing Riberio from controlling successfully. Koholic avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Koholic has control of Riberio's left arm, preventing Riberio from doing any damage. Riberio stopping the sweep attempt from Koholic. Koholic wants to get back to his feet but Riberio is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Koholic looks up at the clock and then as Riberio takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Koholic smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Riberio is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Koholic can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Riberio is looking to escape.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Al Koholic just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Riberio with a poor takedown and Koholic moves into the clinch. Riberio takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Koholic has Riberio pushed against the cage. Koholic lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Riberio.

Riberio misses with a takedown and Koholic counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Koholic looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Koholic thows a huge punch but Riberio dodges it nicely.
Koholic seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Koholic performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Koholic is trying to control the action in half guard but Riberio is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Koholic perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Koholic lands a hook to the side of the head. Riberio tries to circle away but Koholic has him pinned against the cage. Riberio has had enough of the clinch but Koholic keeps him there for the moment. Koholic pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Riberio fails with the takedown and Koholic counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Riberio! Al Koholic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Marcelo Riberio. Koholic looking to control but Riberio is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Riberio tries to hold on but Koholic pushes him away. Koholic controlling his opponent. Riberio is trying desperately to improve position.
