Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Takanori Gomi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Patrick Cote! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Daniel Blasius and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gomi stuffs the takedown attempt from Cote. Cote gets slowly back to his feet. Gomi moves in looking to clinch but Cote pushes him off. Gomi jabs Cote right on the nose. Cote blinks but takes it well. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Cote has eaten all the pies! Some wild striking there from Gomi.
Cote closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cote lands in his opponent's guard. Gomi working for a triangle but Cote defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cote is taking a breather. Gomi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Cote wants to free his trapped foot but Gomi is holding on for dear life with his legs. Cote is trying to control the action in half guard but Gomi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Gomi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cote pulls his head out easily. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gomi looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Cote pushes past his half guard into mount! Cote controlling his opponent. Cote is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gomi can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Gomi is squirming around, avoiding Cote's attempts to control the action. Gomi really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's five minutes gone in the round. Cote controlling from mount. Cote tries to control but Gomi wriggling away.
Despite being in the dominant position, Patrick Cote just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Gomi lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Gomi tries to clinch but Cote moves out of range. Gomi doesn't manage to clinch there - Cote circles away.
Gomi scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
It looks like Patrick Cote has been cut. Cote looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gomi is fending him off so far but Cote persists. Nope, Gomi circles away and we're back to standing. No joy there for Gomi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gomi fails in his attempt to clinch. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cote is defended easily by Gomi. Takanori Gomi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Cote. Cote looks gassed! Cote shoots in for a takedown but Gomi shows good takedown defense. Cote circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gomi lands with a right that hurts Cote. Cote looks to clinch but Gomi throws a short knee that drops Cote. This one is all over!
