Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bradley Nowell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Petruzalek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nowell's entrance music is Doin Time. A fine choice. Justin Petruzalek is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Petruzalek shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Petruzalek is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nowell is just riding it out for now. Petruzalek eventually gives up the hold. Nowell is trying to stand back up but Petruzalek is controlling him
Nowell tries to roll over but Petruzalek keeps him under control. Petruzalek stops Nowell from getting back to his feet.
Nowell is trying to control but can't.
Petruzalek is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Nowell pushes Petruzalek off and gets back to his feet.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Bradley Nowell. Petruzalek fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nowell sprawls well initially but Petruzalek persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nowell keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Petruzalek not landing any meaningful shots this time. Petruzalek has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Petruzalek sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Nowell defending well though. Petruzalek is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Nowell sees it coming and defends easily. Nowell manages to escape and get back to his feet! Petruzalek shoots in for a takedown but Nowell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. That's four minutes gone in the round. Petruzalek pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Petruzalek is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Nowell. Nowell looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Petruzalek wants to get back to full guard. Nowell trying to control the action but Petruzalek is working from the bottom. Nowell wants to stand up but Petruzalek has a hold of him and won't allow it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Petruzalek looking for submissions off his back. Nowell tries to pass the half guard into mount. Petruzalek knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Petruzalek avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Petruzalek closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nowell circles away. Nowell closes the distance and clinches. Petruzalek is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Nowell stalling in the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Nowell just leaning against Petruzalek, taking a breather. Nowell with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Nowell tries to stall but Petruzalek uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Nowell has Petruzalek pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Petruzalek manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Petruzalek tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Nowell just stands there and leans against the cage. Petruzalek fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Petruzalek's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Bradley Nowell is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Horrible takedown by Petruzalek or perhaps it was just good defense by Nowell which made him look bad. Petruzalek throws a head kick that misses and Nowell counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Nowell with a knee to the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. A head punch blocked on the inside by Nowell. Nowell has Petruzalek pressed against the cage, preventing Petruzalek from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Justin Petruzalek has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Petruzalek is trying to break free.
And that's the end of the fight! Bradley Nowell showed his dominance in that final round. Well Nowell has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
