The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wertman is trying hard to land a takedown here. Phillips sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Phillips stuffs the takedown attempt from Wertman. Wertman gets slowly back to his feet.
A nice inside leg kick there by Phillips. That's going to slow Wertman down.
Wertman circles away from the clinch attempt.
Phillips tests Wertman's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Phillips lands with a kick to the temple. Wertman shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Phillips wants to clinch up but Wertman keeps it at a distance.

Phillips lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Wertman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Phillips but Phillips pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nate Phillips has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brendan Wertman.
Phillips lands with a shot to the body.
Wertman gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Phillips.
Wertman shoots in but Phillips avoids the takedown attempt easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Phillips looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Phillips defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wertman.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Phillips stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Phillips pushes Wertman back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Phillips lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Phillips tries to land a knee to the head but Wertman blocks with his arms.
Phillips looking to throw knees to the head but Wertman is blocking nicely.
Phillips misses with a knee to the head.
Phillips lands a nice knee to the body.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Phillips obliges.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Wertman is still on wobbly legs! Can Phillips finish him?
Phillips dips a shoulder and cracks Wertman with a mighty uppercut! Wertman falls back against the cage and Phillips unloads with a barrage of strikes! Wertman is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Phillips screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
