The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nogueira bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Nogueira goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Bates has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Nogueira but great work by Bates.
Bates controlling the position.
Nogueira tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bates wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Nogueira can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nogueira tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Bates presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Nogueira is in all sorts of trouble here.
Nogueira tries to hold on but Bates postures up.
Nogueira is trying to reverse the position but instead Bates has taken his back - oops!

Nogueira tries to roll but Bates sticks to his back.
Nogueira is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Bates is trying to stick to Nogueira's back but Nogueira is turning into Bates. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Bates's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Nogueira.
Bates will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Nogueira looking to sit in guard and control but Bates gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Nogueira working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Bates has passed into half guard!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Nogueira wants to improve his position but Bates is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nogueira is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bates's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bates's back!
Nogueira tries to keep control of the position but Bates is staying busy.
