PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Khen Aranico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shoju Bayushi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aranico comes to the cage accompanied by Psycho. Bayushi has chosen Masta Killa as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Khen Aranico!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shoju Bayushi!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Fujiwara and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aranico getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Bayushi takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Aranico throws a series of punches but Bayushi avoids them all with ease.
Aranico misses with a wild combination.

Bayushi shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Aranico napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Bayushi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Aranico knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Aranico tries to improve position but can't.

Bayushi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Aranico sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Bayushi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Aranico is just riding it out for now. Bayushi eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bayushi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Aranico is just riding it out for now. Bayushi eventually gives up the hold.
Aranico is looking to improve his position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Aranico throws a shot to the body.
Aranico displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bayushi.

Aranico stuffs the takedown.
Bayushi looks gassed!

Bayushi scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Aranico is looking to regain half guard here but Bayushi keeps moving and retains side control.
Aranico wants to control but Bayushi postures up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Bayushi goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Aranico rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Bayushi's guard! Nice work there by Aranico!

Aranico wants to control from the top but Bayushi keeps moving.
Bayushi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Aranico's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Bayushi is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Aranico gets to his feet. Bayushi looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Bayushi looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Aranico is looking to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Khen Aranico will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Bayushi goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Aranico is on top in guard.
Bayushi is breathing heavily.
Aranico wants to pass the guard but Bayushi is keeping the position.

Aranico controls from within his opponent's guard.
Aranico pushing down on Bayushi's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Aranico is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bayushi doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Aranico.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bayushi won't allow Aranico to pass to mount.
Aranico is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Aranico is keen to just control but Bayushi is a slippery customer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Aranico misses with a wild combination.

A big right from Aranico misses.
Bayushi shoots in and drives through. Aranico sprawls well.
Bayushi shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Aranico sprawls well. Aranico wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bayushi gets slowly back to his feet.
Khen Aranico has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shoju Bayushi.
Aranico connects with a looping right hand.
Aranico lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.


It looks like Shoju Bayushi has been cut.
Aranico lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bayushi circles away quickly and effectively.
Aranico lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Aranico throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Aranico throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Khen Aranico is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bayushi slips a jab and a cross from Aranico.
Aranico throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bayushi.
Aranico throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Aranico throws a head kick that misses.
Aranico throws a push kick but Bayushi slaps the foot to one side.
Aranico misses with the combination.
Bayushi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Bayushi shoots in for a double leg but Aranico sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Bayushi shoots in but Aranico avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Khen Aranico dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Shoju Bayushi's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bayushi shoots in for a double leg but Aranico sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Aranico lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Aranico.
A punch combination from Aranico misses.
Bayushi has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Aranico stuffs the takedown attempt from Bayushi. Bayushi gets slowly back to his feet.
A jab from Aranico does it's job there.
Aranico throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bayushi.
Bayushi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bayushi closes the distance and clinches up with Aranico, looking for a takedown. Bayushi pushes Aranico against the cage but Aranico circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Khen Aranico has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shoju Bayushi.
Nice uppercut lands for Aranico. That snapped Bayushi's head back.
Bayushi looks for a takedown but Aranico sprawls well.

Aranico moves away from the strike by Bayushi.
Aranico tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Bayushi takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Aranico misses with a jab, cross combination.
Shoju Bayushi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aranico cracks a nice hook into Bayushi's ribs.
Khen Aranico is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bayushi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Aranico's waist but Aranico gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bayushi off to one side.
Bayushi blocks a head kick by Aranico.
Bayushi has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Bayushi walks into a left hand.


Bayushi is rocked!
Bayushi walks straight into a right hand from Aranico - that's dropped him! Aranico jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Bayushi from any more punishment! Bayushi complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Khen Aranico!
