0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergei Koslov! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Sergei Dronov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mir rushes Koslov and presses him up against the cage. Koslov tries for a takedown. No joy.

Koslov would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Koslov looks for the body kick but Mir saw that one coming. Koslov fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mir looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Nice takedown defense from Mir. No joy for Koslov on that attempt. Mir fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Koslov lands a jab to Mir's midsection. Mir is breathing heavily. Koslov throws a series of punches but Mir avoids them all with ease. Koslov misses with a low kick. Mir is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Koslov's half guard. Mir seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Koslov can do anything to dispel that myth. Mir wants to work for an arm triangle but Koslov is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Mir stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Koslov to get to his feet. Koslov sizes up Mir with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Koslov throws a low kick but Mir avoids it. Mir with a poor takedown and Koslov counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Koslov lands a nice shot that snaps Mir's head back.
Mir is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Koslov. Mir tries to score a power double leg takedown but Koslov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mir somewhat. Koslov sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Koslov misses with a body kick. Mir feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Mir has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mir missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Mir throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Koslov works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Koslov wants to stand up but Mir is controlling him. Koslov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mir. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Koslov avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Koslov keeping moving, preventing Mir from controlling successfully. Koslov is adopting a defensive guard. Mir scoring with some ground and pound. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Koslov thows a body shot but no joy. Mir misses with a double jab
and Koslov counters with a lovely shot to the body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mir decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Mir is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Koslov is just riding it out for now. Mir eventually gives up the hold. Koslov wants to get back to his feet. Mir winds up and cracks Koslov with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Koslov wants to control but Mir is keeping busy and won't allow it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Koslov is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Mir scores with a couple of nice shots. Mir scoring with strikes to the body and head. Mir thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mir throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Koslov avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Mir. Koslov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Koslov wants to get back to his feet.

Mir tightens his grip and picks Koslov up, before dumping him to the ground. Koslov manages to land in guard. Mir postures up.

Mir has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Koslov doesn't defend quickly enough and Mir has managed to lock this one up! Can Koslov escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Mir on a fantastic submission victory.
