2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Huey Carp! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gaucho shoots in and drives through. Carp sprawls well. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gaucho. Gaucho fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronaldinho Gaucho. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No luck with that takedown attempt from Gaucho. Carp looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gaucho is looking to get back to full guard here but Carp has managed to pass to side control instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carp controlling from mount. Gaucho gets back to half guard. Carp controlling the pace. Carp seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Carp is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Gaucho has managed to free his arm - good work. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Gaucho actively working from the bottom here. Carp seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Gaucho actively working from the bottom here. Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Carp scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Huey Carp dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Carp changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gaucho looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Gaucho is looking for a sweep. Gaucho looks to move to half guard but instead Carp has passed into mount! Damn! Gaucho tries to reverse the position but Carp maintains control. Gaucho is working hard here to advance position. Carp sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gaucho really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Carp looking to control and managing it successfully. Gaucho really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Gaucho can't escape the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Carp looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gaucho is looking to improve his position but Carp isn't that keen on the idea. Gaucho is trying to escape the mount but Carp keeps good control and instead manages to take Gaucho's back.
Carp trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Gaucho doesn't escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Gaucho's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Gaucho is really stuck here.
Carp controlling the position well here. Gaucho rolled but Carp kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Despite being in the dominant position, Huey Carp just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Gaucho gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Huey Carp showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Carp closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gaucho to the mat! Gaucho manages to get full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carp controlling from the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carp stands and throws Gaucho's legs to the side, diving into side control. Gaucho is looking for a sweep. A lull in the action here as Carp stalls from top position. Gaucho looks to move to half guard but instead Carp has passed into mount! Damn! Carp controlling from the full mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Gaucho is trying to reverse the position but instead Carp has taken his back - oops! Carp just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Carp keeps control of the position as Gaucho tries to break free.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A bit of a pause in the action here. Carp controlling the positon. Gaucho is trying to break free.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Carp really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Gaucho. Gaucho turns into Carp and is now in his guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Gaucho is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Carp shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gaucho is trying to defend but Carp finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
And that's the end of the fight! Huey Carp comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Carp has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
