Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sawada Tsuna!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renan Goncalves!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Felipe Paraventi and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Goncalves fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tsuna sprawls well initially but Goncalves persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Goncalves decides to stand up.
Sawada Tsuna seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tsuna tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Goncalves throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Tsuna was covering up waiting for the punch and Goncalves finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Goncalves decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tsuna, up you get!

and Goncalves decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tsuna's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Goncalves decides to stand back up.

Tsuna tries a knee to the head but Goncalves blocks it.
Tsuna lands a nice elbow.

Tsuna manages to break the clinch.

and Goncalves counters with a left and a right that stings Tsuna.

Tsuna decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Goncalves has one foot on Tsuna's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Goncalves can do anything to dispel that myth.

and Goncalves counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Goncalves avoids a wild elbow strike from Tsuna.
Goncalves tries to pull guard but Tsuna won't allow it.

Tsuna breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Tsuna tries for a takedown but Goncalves circles away easily

so Goncalves counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Goncalves has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Renan Goncalves showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Goncalves changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tsuna looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Well Goncalves has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
