2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Luna Lovelace! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Daniel Bishop and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Murphy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lovelace manages to avoid it. Murphy fails in his attempt to clinch. Murphy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lovelace's waist but Lovelace gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Murphy off to one side. Jimmy Barry Murphy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Murphy is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Murphy misses with a body kick. Murphy looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Murphy thows a huge punch but Lovelace dodges it nicely.
Murphy with the ground and pound but Lovelace uses the opportunity to regain guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Murphy throwing strikes from guard but Lovelace blocks nicely. Lovelace working for a triangle but Murphy defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Murphy works over Lovelace with some ground and pound from guard. Lovelace keeping moving, preventing Murphy from controlling successfully. Murphy looking to sit in guard and control but Lovelace gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Murphy looking to control.
Murphy looking for a sweep. Not yet Murphy, not yet. Lovelace trying to control the position from guard on top but Murphy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Murphy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lovelace can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Murphy will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Lovelace controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Lovelace stopping the sweep attempt from Murphy. Lovelace works a leg free and moves into half guard. Lovelace is keen to just control but Murphy is a slippery customer. Lovelace winds up and cracks Murphy with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Murphy has a hand on Lovelace's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Lovelace takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lovelace avoids the attempt from Murphy to control. Lovelace with a couple of short strikes. Lovelace controlling the pace for now. Murphy manages to regain half guard. Good work. Lovelace throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Lovelace is thwarting Murphy's attempts to control the position. Lovelace trying to control the action but Murphy is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lovelace looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Murphy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Lovelace perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Murphy is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Lovelace pulls his head out easily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lovelace is working for a submission of some sort.
Lovelace looks gassed! Murphy manages to get to full guard.

That's five minutes gone in the round. Murphy keeping full guard, as Lovelace tries to pass. Murphy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lovelace is one step ahead there. Lovelace wants to control from the top but Murphy keeps moving. Lovelace must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Murphy is working an open guard so Lovelace takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Murphy tries to clinch there but Lovelace circles away.
Lovelace swats away the attempt to clinch by Murphy. Murphy decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Lovelace looking for submissions off his back. Murphy perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Lovelace taking some punishment here, with Murphy in his half guard. Lovelace is trying to maintain the position but Murphy is very close to passing his half guard. Lovelace avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Murphy. Murphy trying to control from half guard but Lovelace is working away. Murphy trying to pass the guard but Lovelace defending well.

Lovelace wants to get back to his feet. Lovelace moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Murphy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Lovelace looking to hit a scissor sweep but Murphy is one step ahead there.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Lovelace has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Murphy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Murphy drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lovelace dives on top into guard. Lovelace controlling from the top position. Lovelace drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lovelace jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Murphy looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Lovelace puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Lovelace trying to control the action but Murphy is working from the bottom. Lovelace content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. The fighters are battling for position here. Murphy manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Murphy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lovelace is one step ahead there. Murphy trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Murphy looking to control.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jimmy Barry Murphy. I think Murphy has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
