PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between nathin Q (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicolas Zerka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zerka has chosen mc circulaire as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zerka throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Q shoots in for a takedown but Zerka shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Zerka throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Zerka throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Zerka fails to land with a series of punches.
Zerka fails with an attempt to clinch.
Zerka takes a swing at Q's ribcage but misses.
Zerka throws a head kick that misses.
Zerka lands with a shot to the body.
Q stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Zerka.
Q shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Zerka pinned against the cage. Zerka gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Zerka lands a nice shot that snaps Q's head back.

Zerka lands a big head kick that sends Q tumbling to the mat! Zerka takes a step backwards and waves Q back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Q is rocked!


It looks like nathin Q has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Q avoids the head kick by Zerka.
Zerka throws a sloppy head kick and Q moves out of range easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Q defending well as Zerka loads up on a big left hand.
Zerka fails with the takedown

and Q counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Zerka's guard now.
Q wants to control from the top but Zerka keeps moving.
Q is really struggling to control Zerka but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Q is breathing heavily.
Zerka bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Q's guard.
Zerka trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Q doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Zerka stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Q circles away from the clinch attempt.

Zerka lands a big head kick that sends Q tumbling to the mat! Zerka takes a step backwards and waves Q back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Oh Q is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Zerka misses with an uppercut. Q saw that one coming.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Zerka throws a head kick that misses

and Q counters with a single leg into guard. Zerka didn't expect that.
Q seems to have got his legs back now.
Q slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zerka wants to sweep but no luck.
Q trying to control but Zerka is working from the bottom.

Q drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Zerka dives on top into guard.
Zerka wants to stand but Q has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Zerka must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nicolas Zerka dominated that round.
The cut man is working on nathin Q's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Zerka throws a head kick that misses.
Q shoots in but Zerka avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Zerka just misses with a punch to the body.
Zerka looks for the body kick but Q saw that one coming.
Zerka pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Q moves out of range of the body kick.
Zerka misses with a few strikes there.
Zerka misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Q blocks a head kick by Zerka.
A nice leg kick lands there from Zerka.
Zerka waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Q.
Nicolas Zerka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A big right from Zerka misses.
Q blocks a jab.

Q circles away from the clinch attempt

and Q counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Q tries to pass the half guard into mount. Zerka knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Q trying to control the action but Zerka is working from the bottom.
Zerka tries to roll over but Q keeps him under control.
Q works his way into full mount!
Q prevents Zerka from getting the reversal.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Q goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Zerka is on top in guard.

Q is working an open guard so Zerka takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Q shoots for a double leg takedown but Zerka sprawls well. He's pushed Q's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Q blocks a head kick by Zerka.
Zerka looks to land a right hand but Q moved out of range.
Zerka throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Q counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Zerka pushes Q off and scrambles back to his feet.
Zerka lands a head kick!
Zerka throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Zerka feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Q's calf.
Zerka scores with a crisp jab that stopped Q in his tracks.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Zerka throws a head kick but Q moves out of range.
Zerka attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Zerka will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Nicolas Zerka seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Zerka misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Zerka tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Q counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Q passes into half guard.

Q is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Zerka to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Zerka kicks Q off and gets to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Nicolas Zerka will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The cut man is working on nathin Q's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Zerka throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A big left from Zerka misses.
Q avoids the head kick by Zerka.
Q steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Zerka.
A low kick from Zerka is predictable there

and Q counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Q trying to control but Zerka is working from the bottom.
Zerka wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zerka looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Q advances to half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Q wants to take a breather but Zerka is having none of it.
nathin Q overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Q is working for a submission of some sort.

Q is trying to work for a kimura but Zerka is defending well.
Q is looking to take a break and control but Zerka is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Q is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Zerka defends it well.
Q is stalling here. Zerka is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Q seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Zerka has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Zerka wants to control but Q is keeping him busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Zerka misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Q counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Zerka's guard now.
Zerka is trying to control the position but Q postures up.
Nicolas Zerka is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Zerka wants to stand and escape but Q is having none of it.
Zerka keeping moving, preventing Q from controlling successfully.
Q trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Zerka manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Zerka gets to his feet. Q looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

And that's the end of the fight!
nathin Q showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Zerka has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
