Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Egberto Gismonti! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dimincio Ortiz! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Emerson Jorge and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gismonti moves in looking to clinch but Ortiz pushes him off. Gismonti tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ortiz swats him away and circles back towards the center. Gismonti pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gismonti tries to clinch but Ortiz moves out of range. Ortiz throws a sloppy head kick and Gismonti moves out of range easily. Gismonti tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Gismonti throws a series of punches but Ortiz moves out of range. Gismonti tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ortiz swats him away and circles back towards the center. Gismonti fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ortiz drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ortiz decides to stand back up. Gismonti showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ortiz.
No joy there for Gismonti, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round. Gismonti is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Ortiz stands up and waves to Gismonti to follow him. Ortiz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Ortiz decides to stand up. Gismonti is looking to clinch but Ortiz is avoiding it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fight moves into the clinch position. Ortiz looking to stall.
Gismonti lands with a right to the head. Gismonti trying to land knees to the body.
Gismonti is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Ortiz gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Gismonti is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Gismonti is working an open guard so Ortiz takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. A head kick misses from Gismonti. Gismonti misses with a wild combination.
Ortiz moves into the clinch successfully.
Gismonti keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ortiz's efforts to push away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gismonti looking to throw knees to the head but Ortiz is blocking nicely.
Ortiz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Ortiz circles away from the clinch attempt and Ortiz counters with a good, hard body kick but Gismonti shrugs it off. Gismonti is breathing heavily. Ortiz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gismonti swats him away and circles back towards the center. Ortiz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Gismonti fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ortiz moves out of range of the body kick from Gismonti.
Gismonti tries to clinch but Ortiz moves away and Ortiz counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gismonti's guard now. Ortiz scoring with punches to the head and body. Ortiz postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Ortiz controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Ortiz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ortiz won't allow Gismonti to get back to his feet. Ortiz is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Ortiz stands up over Gismonti, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Ortiz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gismonti is trying to keep Ortiz in close.

Dimincio Ortiz dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Gismonti darts in trying to clinch and Ortiz counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Ortiz decides to stand and escape the position. Gismonti throws a nice inside leg kick. Gismonti tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Ortiz counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gismonti's guard now. Dimincio Ortiz has got the better of the ground game so far. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gismonti has momentary wrist control but Ortiz slips an elbow through the middle. Ortiz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Ortiz rushes Gismonti and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Ortiz has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Gismonti is trying to keep an underhook but Ortiz manages to get the takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortiz decides to stand up. Ortiz is breathing heavily. Ortiz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gismonti throws a leg kick that misses. Gismonti tries to clinch but Ortiz moves away and Ortiz counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Ortiz content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Gismonti looks like he's trying to stand up.
Ortiz frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ortiz landing shots from mount. Gismonti is trying to stand. Ortiz punishing his opponent with strikes. Ortiz dominating with strikes here. Ortiz controlling the position easily from mount. Ortiz has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gismonti wants to get back to his feet.
Ortiz is landing with some decent strikes but Gismonti is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Ortiz controlling from the full mount. Ortiz unloading with bombs! Ortiz cracks Gismonti with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ortiz lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Gismonti is rocked! Ortiz landing strikes, looking to finish! Oh Gismonti is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Ortiz looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Gismonti covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
