Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Cornelius Smithy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dom Winfeild!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Daniel Bishop and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Winfeild clinches with his opponent.
Smithy looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Winfeild drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Smithy gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Winfeild lands a takedown into guard.
Smithy utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Winfeild postures up in Smithy's guard and throws a big left but Smithy blocks it.
Winfeild stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smithy swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Smithy avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Winfeild wants to pass the guard but Smithy is keeping the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Winfeild thows a big elbow that misses.
Winfeild pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Smithy is keeping the position for now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Winfeild feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Winfeild wants to stand but Smithy has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Winfeild's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Winfeild trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Winfeild has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Smithy is proving hard to escape from.
Winfeild must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Winfeild accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Winfeild drops back looking for a leg! Smithy is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Smithy manages to kick Winfeild off! Winfeild jumps back into Smithy's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Winfeild counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Winfeild has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Smithy clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Winfeild has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Smithy's body.
Smithy covering up well and avoiding damage.
Winfeild just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Winfeild's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dom Winfeild dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Winfeild misses with a takedown

and Smithy counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Winfeild wants to control but Smithy is keeping busy.
Winfeild is trying to get back to full guard.
Winfeild moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Smithy stops Winfeild from standing up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Winfeild seems keen to control Smithy's posture.
Winfeild wants to sweep but no luck.
Smithy trying to control but Winfeild is working from the bottom.
Winfeild looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smithy is one step ahead there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Winfeild closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Smithy wants to sweep here but Winfeild controlling him for the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Winfeild content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Cornelius Smithy will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Winfeild shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Winfeild swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Smithy is now in Winfeild's guard. A big mistake from Winfeild there, giving up the dominant position!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Winfeild can do anything to dispel that myth.
Smithy thows a big elbow that misses.

Winfeild uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Winfeild clinches with his opponent.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Winfeild is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Winfeild drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Smithy gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Smithy fails to pull guard.

Winfeild has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Smithy uses from the top position.
Winfeild is adopting a defensive guard.
Smithy postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Smithy tries to free his leg and advance position but Winfeild is retaining full guard.

Winfeild scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Winfeild shoots in and bounces Smithy off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Winfeild trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Smithy manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Smithy is looking to work some ground and pound but Winfeild has wrist control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Smithy wants to control from the top but Winfeild keeps moving.
Smithy is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Winfeild is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Dom Winfeild comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Winfeild has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
