PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Greene (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bada Bada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Greene!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bada Bada!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Greene closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Greene looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Greene is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Greene's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bada lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Greene circles away quickly and effectively.
Greene tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Bada throws the left hand but Greene avoids the punch easily.
Bada throws a looping overhand right but Greene ducks down to avoid it.
Bada will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bada fails with a takedown attempt.
Bada misses with a wild combination.

Greene instigates a clinch.
Greene wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Greene breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bada fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Some wild striking there from Bada.
Bada throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Greene.
Bada missing with a left hand there. Greene was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bada. Greene does a little dance to reset his feet.
Greene buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Greene gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Greene throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bada escapes and throws Greene's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Greene can't do much from the bottom here.
Bada landing strikes.
Greene defending against the ground and pound.
Greene wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Bada is trying to get an arm triangle but Greene is defending well.

Bada tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Greene is trying to control Bada's posture but Bada avoids it.
Greene is looking to reverse the position.
Greene is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Greene tries to bench press Bada off him but Bada keeps the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Bada throws a right hand that Greene ducks under and follows up with a left that Greene also avoids with ease.
Bada looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Greene is fending him off so far but Bada persists. Nope, Greene circles away and we're back to standing.
Greene uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bada.
Bada keeps the fight on the outside.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bada pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Bada swats away the attempt to clinch by Greene.
Greene scores with a nice head shot.
Greene throws a hook but Bada blocks it.

Greene fails with a takedown attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bada misses the jab.
Greene displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bada throws out the jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bada Bada dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Greene moves into the clinch.
Bada has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Greene avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Greene pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Bada misses with a wild body shot.
Bada throws the left hand but Greene avoids the punch easily.
Bada is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Greene slips a straight right by Bada.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bada shoots and misses
and Greene counters with a good low kick that Bada was not able to check.
Bada might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Bada doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Greene counters with a straight right hand.
James Greene has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bada Bada.

Bada thows a left - swing and a miss!
Greene is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Bada throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Greene was covering up waiting for the punch and Bada finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Greene looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Greene controls Bada momentarily but Bada frees himself.
Bada lands a couple of elbows.
Bada wants to control from the top but Greene keeps moving.

Bada is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Greene working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bada doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bada manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Bada not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bada fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


It looks like James Greene has been cut.

Bada working for a guillotine from mount but Greene is in no mood to give up.

Greene wants to hold on but Bada pushes him away.

Bada working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Bada looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Bada is breathing heavily.
Greene's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Bada Bada showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Good leg kick by Greene there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Bada takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Bada Bada seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Greene shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Bada is looking to break free of the clinch but Greene has double underhooks.
Bada wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Bada tries to circle away but Greene has him pinned against the cage.

Greene gets to his feet - Bada follows without any prompting.
Greene lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Bada Bada is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Bada tries for a takedown but Greene circles away easily

and Greene counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Greene is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Greene throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
James Greene showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Bada has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
