Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chris Lavelle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tomasz Drwal!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Dmitry Maklakov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drwal shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lavelle sprawls well. Lavelle wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Drwal gets slowly back to his feet.
No luck for Drwal with that takedown attempt.
Drwal has a takedown stuffed.
Chris Lavelle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tomasz Drwal.

and Drwal counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Drwal.
Drwal tries to free his leg and advance position but Lavelle is retaining full guard.

Lavelle pulls Drwal in close to prevent any damage.
Lavelle looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Lavelle not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lavelle is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lavelle seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Drwal does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Drwal is defending against the submission attempts here by Lavelle.

Drwal is trying to escape the mount.
Lavelle trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Drwal really wants to buck Lavelle off and get back to his feet.
Lavelle tries to control but Drwal wriggling away.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Lavelle goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Drwal is on top in guard.
Drwal pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lavelle is keeping the position for now.

Drwal drops back looking for a leg! Lavelle is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lavelle manages to kick Drwal off! Drwal jumps back into Lavelle's guard.

Lavelle looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Lavelle bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Drwal's guard.

Lavelle wants to control from the top but Drwal keeps moving.

Drwal looking for a guillotine here but Lavelle defends easily.
Lavelle advances to half guard.
Lavelle missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Drwal looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Drwal is refusing to be controlled, as Lavelle sits in half guard.
Lavelle takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Drwal is not content to let Lavelle control the position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Chris Lavelle just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Lavelle throws a solid leg kick but Drwal takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Lavelle.

Lavelle shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lavelle in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Drwal looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Lavelle dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Lavelle closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Drwal is trying to get back to half guard.

Lavelle tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Lavelle trying to control the position but Drwal is working away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lavelle tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lavelle has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Drwal can't do much from the bottom here.
Drwal manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Drwal looks like he's trying to stand up.

Drwal is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lavelle pulls his head out easily.
Lavelle content to control rather than advance.
Lavelle passes into side control, despite Drwal's attempt to control the position.

Drwal is not content to let Lavelle control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Drwal is trying to improve his position.
Lavelle wants to lay and pray for a moment but Drwal keeps working.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Lavelle closes the distance and clinches up with Drwal, looking for a takedown. Lavelle pushes Drwal against the cage but Drwal circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Drwal counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lavelle's guard now.

Lavelle thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Lavelle has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Drwal can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Drwal is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Lavelle has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Drwal doesn't defend quickly enough and Lavelle has managed to lock this one up! Can Drwal escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Lavelle on a fantastic submission victory.
