Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gerry Vaughn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danny Knighton!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Reed Andrews and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vaughn throws a low kick but it's checked well by Knighton.
Vaughn fails with the takedown.
A combination from Vaughn does no damage.
Knighton doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Vaughn counters with a left and a right that stings Knighton.
Vaughn throws a right hand that Knighton ducks under and follows up with a left that Knighton also avoids with ease.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vaughn throws a nice looking combination but Knighton bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Vaughn clinches with his opponent.
Vaughn tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Knighton just stands there and leans against the cage.
Knighton is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Vaughn is fighting off a takedown attempt but Knighton is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Vaughn to the mat. Vaughn regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Knighton is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Vaughn has his hands on Knighton's head, controlling the position.

Knighton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Knighton looks gassed!

Knighton drops back looking for a leg! Vaughn is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Vaughn manages to kick Knighton off! Knighton jumps back into Vaughn's guard.
Vaughn pulls Knighton in close to prevent any damage.

Knighton drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Knighton jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vaughn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Knighton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Knighton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Vaughn working for a triangle but Knighton defends it easily.

Knighton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Vaughn misses with a leg kick.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Vaughn gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Knighton counters with a takedown into side control.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gerry Vaughn. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Knighton is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vaughn is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Vaughn wants to control but Knighton postures up.

Knighton is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Vaughn knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Vaughn tries to bench press Knighton off him but Knighton keeps the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Danny Knighton dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Vaughn tries to clinch but Knighton moves out of range.
Vaughn doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Knighton counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Knighton is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Vaughn has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Knighton is working away from the top position though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Vaughn is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Vaughn wants to improve his position but Knighton is controlling well.
Vaughn controlling the position for now.
Knighton wants to pass to mount but Vaughn is defending the position.
Vaughn on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Vaughn tries to get out of the position.

Knighton is looking for a kimura here.
Vaughn wants to improve his position but Knighton is controlling well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Knighton scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Knighton is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Knighton prevents Vaughn from improving his position.

Knighton is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Knighton looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Knighton is looking for a kimura but Vaughn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Knighton to get the leverage.

Knighton wants to work for an arm triangle but Vaughn is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Knighton is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vaughn is just riding it out for now. Knighton eventually gives up the hold.

Knighton in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Vaughn tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Knighton!
