Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Dangle! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shawn Destruction! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Destruction tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dangle was well out of range. Poor timing from Destruction. Destruction fails to land the takedown. Nice defenses there by Dangle. Dangle fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Destruction swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Dangle counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Dangle is working for a submission of some sort.
Destruction wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dangle is keen to just control but Destruction is a slippery customer. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Dangle throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Destruction won't allow Dangle to pass to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Destruction wants to control but Dangle is keeping busy and won't allow it. Destruction controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Destruction looks to score with a jab to the body but Dangle is just out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Destruction throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Dangle lands with a hook. Destruction tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Dangle throws a series of strikes that have Destruction backpedaling.
Shawn Destruction seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dangle throws a head kick that misses. Dangle takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Destruction misses with a takedown and Dangle counters with a shoot takedown. Destruction fights it but they end up in guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dangle closes the distance and clinches up with Destruction, looking for a takedown. Dangle pushes Destruction against the ropes but Destruction circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Dangle turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

and Dangle counters with a left to the body. Dangle dives in and grabs Destruction's left leg, looking for a takedown. Destruction pushes down on Dangle's head and hops out. Destruction is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Dangle rather than just go for the knockout. Destruction lands with a hook. Dangle tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Destruction throws a predictable looking body shot
and Dangle counters with a takedown into side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Destruction struggling a bit here.

Dangle keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Destruction. Destruction is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Dangle. Dangle lands with a kick to the ribs.

Destruction scores with a one two! Dangle had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Destruction pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Dangle shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Destruction sprawls well. Destruction wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dangle gets slowly back to his feet. Destruction lands with a nice body punch. Shawn Destruction seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and Dangle counters with a straight right hand. Destruction throws a right hand that Dangle ducks under and follows up with a left that Dangle also avoids with ease. Destruction stuffs the takedown attempt from Dangle. Dangle gets slowly back to his feet. Destruction is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Dangle looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Destruction is pulling down on Dangle's head. It's preventing any offense from Dangle, at least for the moment. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Destruction wants to get back to his feet but Dangle is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Destruction keeping moving, preventing Dangle from controlling successfully. That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Dangle trying to mount his opponent but Destruction defends it. Dangle throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Destruction. Dangle slips under a jab from Destruction. Dangle fakes the leg kick and cracks Destruction in the body. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Dangle controlling the pace for now. Dangle tries to control but Destruction wriggling away. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Destruction is looking to improve his position but Dangle isn't that keen on the idea.
