Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sam Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Jab, jab by Smith - just one landing. Bresnar swinging wildly here.
Sam Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bresnar tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center. No luck for Smith with that takedown attempt. Bresnar changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smith looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Smith is trying to buck Bresnar off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bresnar taking a breather here. Bresnar wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Smith, who protects the arm well. Bresnar controls the position. Smith is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Smith tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bresnar wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Smith knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bresnar on the ground. Smith wants to get back to his feet. Bresnar is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Smith takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith is looking for a sweep. Bresnar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Smith is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. You can see the frustration on Smith's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Smith is trying to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Smith is trying to buck Bresnar off. Smith looks to move to half guard but instead Bresnar has passed into mount! Damn! Bresnar controlling his opponent. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Smith is trying to stand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lock Bresnar dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Bresnar circles away from the clinch attempt and Bresnar counters with a three punch combo that has Smith backing up. Smith nods at Bresnar to acknowledge the strikes. Smith fails with the takedown enabling Bresnar to counter with a crisp jab. Smith stuffs the takedown attempt from Bresnar. Bresnar gets slowly back to his feet. Bresnar tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Smith counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Bresnar wants to clinch but Smith slips to the side and Smith counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Smith is looking to clinch but Bresnar is avoiding it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Bresnar counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Bresnar stops Smith from standing up. Smith is wriggling around but Bresnar manages to pass to half guard.
Smith is looking to escape. Smith is looking to get back to full guard here but Bresnar has managed to pass to side control instead. Bresnar controlling the position easily from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Smith trying to control but not successfully. Smith is trying to stand back up. Bresnar is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith just trying to survive but Bresnar is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Smith is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith wants to escape the position.
Smith trying to control the hands but Bresnar won't let him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lock Bresnar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Smith's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Smith throws the kick towards the body but Bresnar avoids it. Smith with a poor takedown and Bresnar counters by clinching up. Bresnar has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Smith slowing the pace effectively. Smith creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Bresnar's defenses. Bresnar tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Smith fails to pull guard.
Bresnar takes an elbow to the temple. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Smith wants to clinch but Bresnar slips to the side so Bresnar counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Smith wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Bresnar manages to pass to side control. Smith has a hand on Bresnar's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Bresnar takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith tries to hold on but Bresnar postures up. Smith is trying to reverse the position but instead Bresnar has taken his back - oops! I really don't envy Smith right now.
Bresnar scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Smith is looking for a way out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. What can Smith do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Bresnar working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Smith is doing well to defend. Bresnar seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Smith is forced to tap and this one is over!
