Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Masakatsu Ueda! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ben Brawn! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brawn changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ueda looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Brawn cracks Ueda with an elbow. That is naaassty. Ueda is trying to improve his position. Brawn landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Ueda tries to get back to half guard but can't. Ueda takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Brawn grinds an elbow into Ueda's temple. Ueda is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Brawn's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Ueda wants to get back to full guard. Ueda moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Brawn working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Brawn is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Ueda had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Brawn defends it easily. Brawn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ueda swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brawn accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Brawn missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Brawn throwing strikes but missing. Brawn throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Brawn with a nice head shot there. Brawn postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Ueda looking to hit a scissor sweep but Brawn is one step ahead there. That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Ueda tries to land a sweep but no joy. Brawn lands a couple of elbows. Ueda has momentary wrist control but Brawn slips an elbow through the middle. Brawn stands up over Ueda, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Ueda looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Ueda is rocked! Brawn works over Ueda with some ground and pound from guard. Oh Ueda is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Brawn with a nice head shot there. Brawn must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Brawn keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ueda's head. Brawn lands a couple of elbows. Brawn lands a couple of decent looking shots. Brawn is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Ben Brawn dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Brawn closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ueda circles away. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Ueda.

Brawn shoots for a double leg takedown but Ueda sprawls well. He's pushed Brawn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. A chopping leg kick lands by Ueda. Ueda moves into range and clinches up with Brawn. A bit of stalling here from Ueda.
Ueda lands an elbow inside that Brawn shrugs off. Brawn is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ueda pulls him back up using the underhooks. Ueda lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Ueda lands a nice elbow. Brawn takes an elbow to the forehead. Ueda lands an elbow inside. Ueda creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Brawn's defenses. Ueda gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. A battle for position here, against the ropes. Ueda lands an elbow that stopped Brawn in his tracks for a moment. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Brawn drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ueda gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Ueda is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Brawn can't fight it off and eventually Ueda manages to take the fight to the floor. Brawn looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. The fight moves into the clinch position. Ueda stalling in the clinch but Brawn improves position. Brawn blocks an elbow strike from Ueda.
Ueda pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the ropes. Brawn drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ueda pulls his leg out and moves away.
Brawn shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ueda as he jumps to the side. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Masakatsu Ueda dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Brawn is defended easily by Ueda. Ueda feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Brawn's calf. Nice body kick from Ueda. Brawn misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ueda.
Ueda throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Ueda feints and then cracks Brawn's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Brawn down. Ueda scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Ueda gets in close and instigates a clinch. Ueda has clasped his hands together around Brawn's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Ueda misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Ueda throws and elbow that misses. Brawn uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ueda's guard. Nice move by Brawn! Brawn cracks Ueda with a solid left hand. Brawn stands up over Ueda, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Ueda utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Brawn postures up and lands a big shot to Ueda's brow. Ueda has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Brawn preventing the sweep. Brawn drops back looking for a leg! Ueda is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ueda manages to kick Brawn off! Brawn jumps back into Ueda's guard. Ueda will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Brawn is working the ground and pound from guard. Brawn takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Brawn tries to clinch but Ueda is having none of it. Brawn shoots in and bounces Ueda off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard. Ueda wants to sweep but no luck. Brawn has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Ueda to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Brawn is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Ueda pulls down on the head and he's put Brawn to sleep! This one is all over!
