Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Smith!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Silva's half guard.
Silva looks like he's trying to stand up.
Smith seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Silva is looking for a sweep. Smith is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Smith thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Smith looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Silva is trying to get back to full guard.
Smith working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Silva misses with some strikes from the bottom.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smith connects with a nice short shot to Silva's temple.

Smith decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Smith checks a leg kick.

Silva gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Smith to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.

Silva wants to stand but Smith is controlling the position.

Smith gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Anderson Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A lazy left from Smith finds it's target.
Silva tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance.

Silva gets caught flat footed, as Smith shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Smith gets to his feet. Silva looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Silva is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.

Silva is breathing heavily.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Smith shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Smith was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Smith is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Silva can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Silva is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Smith is working for a guillotine from mount but Silva frees his head quite easily.

Smith lands a big shot there that rocks Silva but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

BOOM! Smith connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Silva is bucking up trying to escape but Smith cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Smith dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Smith shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Silva napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Silva is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Silva is trying to control Smith's posture but Smith avoids it.
Smith tries to move to mount but Silva blocks the move with his legs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Smith is putting a hurting on Silva here, landing some big shots from side control.
Silva takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Smith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working.

Smith stands up.

Smith scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Smith controlling the position.
Silva parries the strikes from Smith easily there. Smith is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Silva to escape.

Smith decides to stand back up. Smith steps back and let's Silva get back to his feet.

Smith shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Smith was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith prevents Silva from getting the reversal.
Smith is landing with some decent strikes but Silva is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Smith with shots to the head and body - Silva looks very uncomfortable down there.

Oooooh, big shot lands for Smith! Silva is hurt baaadly! Smith is firing away with more strikes - Silva is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
