Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Travis Moguillan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jamal Jazzer! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Ren Mimura and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jazzer shoots in for a takedown but Moguillan shows good takedown defense. Jazzer shoots in but no luck this time. A combination from Jazzer does no damage. The fight stays on the outside here - Jazzer looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Moguillan scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Moguillan tries to move into full mount but can't pass Jazzer's legs. Moguillan lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Jazzer down.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Moguillan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jazzer keeps working. Jazzer is looking to reverse the position. Moguillan working away. Moguillan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jazzer, who protects the arm well. Jazzer is trying to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moguillan lands a nice forearm strike. Jazzer wants to control but Moguillan postures up. Jazzer is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Moguillan's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Jazzer is trying to control but can't.
Moguillan is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Moguillan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jazzer's head. Jazzer is controlling Moguillan's trapped leg to prevent Moguillan from advancing to side control. Well, if Moguillan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Jazzer wants to control but Moguillan is keeping busy.
Jazzer looks gassed! Moguillan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jazzer defends it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Moguillan wants to take a breather but Jazzer is having none of it.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Jazzer misses with a takedown and Moguillan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Travis Moguillan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jamal Jazzer. Moguillan avoids the elbow strike from Jazzer, against the cage.
Moguillan controlling the action here for a moment.
Jazzer is trying to break the clinch but Moguillan has him pressed against the cage. Jazzer fails to pull guard.
Jazzer tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Moguillan just stands there and leans against the cage. Jazzer trying to stall but Moguillan improves his position.
Moguillan jumps into guard, dragging Jazzer to the mat.
Jazzer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moguillan swivels though and keeps the full guard. Moguillan is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Jazzer frees his head nicely. Oh but Moguillan has switched to an armbar! Jazzer is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
