Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pawel Kulak! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bobi Band! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Radbod Blank and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kulak scores with a hook to the body. Band takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Band gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Band trying to keep a closed guard but Kulak is proving a slippery customer.
Band working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kulak doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kulak manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Band should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Band wants to sweep here but Kulak controlling him for the moment. Band is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kulak is aware though and is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Band wants to sweep but no luck. Kulak pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Band is keeping the position for now. Band bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kulak's guard. Kulak working for a triangle but Band defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kulak looking to hit a scissor sweep but Band is one step ahead there. Band has gone for a leg lock! Kulak slips out almost immediately though and dives into Band's guard. Kulak tries to free his leg and advance position but Band is retaining full guard. Kulak knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Band on the ground. Band manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kulak manages to get himself to full guard.
Kulak looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Band puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Band looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Band trying to control the action but Kulak is working from the bottom. Band might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kulak kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Kulak wants to improve his position but Band is controlling well.
Band is working for a submission of some sort.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Band looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Band is trying for a kimura here. Kulak looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Band wins by kimura!
