0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Carlos Tevez! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Fedor Mirinova and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tevez looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Burkot! Burkot regains half guard. Tevez is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tevez scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Burkot gets back to full guard.
Tevez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Tevez trying to control but Burkot is working from the bottom. Burkot is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Burkot has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Burkot works to advance to full mount. Tevez defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Tevez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Tevez has given up his back here.
Tevez trying to control but not successfully. Tevez tries to escape but Burkot has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Tevez looks gassed! Burkot controls the position. Burkot lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.

Tevez is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Burkot is looking to control Tevez but Tevez is wriggling around and keeping busy. Burkot lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Burkot.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Burkot controlling the positon. Burkot's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Tevez tries to escape but Burkot has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Burkot working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Tevez. Tevez in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Burkot seems keen to control Tevez's posture. Burkot working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tevez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tevez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Tevez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Tevez throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Burkot preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Burkot wants to sweep but no luck. Tevez in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Tevez trying to control the position from guard on top but Burkot is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Tevez is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Tevez misses with a head kick.

Burkot closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tevez did well to prevent Burkot getting side control. Burkot lands with a punch from half guard. Burkot wants to pass the guard but Tevez is defending well. Tevez is defending against the submission attempts here by Burkot.
Tevez is looking to get back to full guard here but Burkot has managed to pass to side control instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burkot lands a nice shot to the head. Burkot controlling from the full mount. Tevez defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Burkot. Burkot unloading with bombs! Burkot could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Tevez is looking to get to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Burkot tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Burkot lands with some strikes. Tevez is working to get back to half guard.
Burkot stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Tevez moves into range and clinches up with Burkot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tevez looking for a guillotine here but Burkot defends easily.
Tevez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Burkot defends it easily. Burkot working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Burkot is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Burkot wants to control from the top but Tevez keeps moving.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Tevez takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Tevez throws a head kick but Burkot moves out of range.
Dima Burkot is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Burkot tries to clinch up and Tevez counters with a nice kick to the body. Burkot wants to clinch up but Tevez keeps it at a distance. Tevez throws a head kick that half lands.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Burkot gets the takedown into side control. Tevez is being controlled here. Burkot tries to move to mount but Tevez blocks the move with his legs. Burkot wants to control but Tevez is keeping him busy. Tevez tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Burkot wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Burkot working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Tevez striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tevez is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Burkot's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Burkot! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Tevez has tapped! This one is allllll over!
