PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hideo Nakano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nakano comes to the cage accompanied by Spirit Fight by Tan Dun & Kodo. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hideo Nakano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Antonio Lopez !
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lopez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nakano circles away quickly and effectively.
Nakano looks for a takedown but Lopez sprawls well.
Lopez looks to land a combination. Nakano sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Nakano throws a low kick but Lopez avoids it.
Nakano tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lopez was well out of range. Poor timing from Nakano.
Lopez moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Lopez misses with a two punch combination.
Nakano pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nakano is defended easily by Lopez .
Nakano throws a lazy right hand but Lopez sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Nakano misses with an attempted mid kick.
Lopez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nakano circles away.
A punch lands to the side of Lopez 's head but he takes it in his stride.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nakano throws a combination that misses

and Lopez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Nakano's guard.

Lopez stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Lopez takes a jab right on the kisser.
Nakano closes the distance but Lopez moves to the side

and Lopez counters with a nice double leg into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lopez looking to pass the guard.
Lopez postures up.
Nakano wants to sweep here but Lopez controlling him for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nakano being controlled here, momentarily.
Lopez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Lopez trying to control the position from guard on top but Nakano is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nakano has a closed guard, preventing Lopez from standing up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lopez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Nakano is trying to keep Lopez in close.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nakano thows a body shot but no joy.
Nakano tries to move into range but Lopez moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Lopez falls off balance throwing a combination

and Nakano counters with a series of strikes that sends Lopez to the canvas! Nakano follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight!
Lopez looks gassed!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nakano looking to sit in guard and control but Lopez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Nakano controls Lopez momentarily but Lopez frees himself.
Nakano has control of Lopez 's left arm, preventing Lopez from doing any damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nakano trying to keep a closed guard but Lopez is proving a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Hideo Nakano will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nakano lands a slapping body shot.
Nakano catches Lopez with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Antonio Lopez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Donk. Nakano catches Lopez right on the button with a cross.
Whack! Nakano lands a heavy head kick that drops Lopez . The ref tackles Nakano to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Lopez was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Hideo Nakano!
