Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matts Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sovann Pok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matts Serra! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sovann Pok! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pok cracks Serra with a right hand to the side of the head. Serra moves in looking to clinch but Pok pushes him off. Pok keeps the fight on the outside. Pok circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pok thows a left - swing and a miss! Pok swings for the body but Serra moves out of range.
Serra tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pok paws at him with a jab and circles away. Serra tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Serra is looking to clinch. Pok swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Serra throws a jab when Pok was well out of range. Serra takes a jab right on the kisser.

Serra tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pok paws at him with a jab and circles away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pok connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Pok cracks Serra with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Serra has taken the fight to the clinch.
Pok scores with a hook to the body. Pok wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Serra has him pressed against the cage. Serra is working for takedown but Pok is calmly controlling the position for now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matts Serra. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pok softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Serra tries for a takedown. No joy.

Pok throws a punch but it's blocked by Serra. Serra drops down looking for an ankle pick but Pok pulls his leg out and moves away.
Serra takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Serra shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pok but Pok pushes him off and we're back to square one. Nice defenses there by Serra. Pok throws a series of punches but Serra avoids them all with ease. Pok misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Serra.
Serra defending well as Pok loads up on a big left hand. Serra looks to land a combination but Pok avoids it well. Serra keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Serra closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pok to the mat! Pok manages to get full guard. Pok controlling Serra's posture. Serra stops Pok from standing up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Serra is looking to work some ground and pound but Pok has wrist control. Serra has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Pok preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Pok is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Pok is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Serra passes Pok's left leg - he's now in half guard. Serra not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Serra passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Pok! Serra prevents Pok from getting the reversal. Serra is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Pok has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Pok wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Serra.
Pok tries to lock up and control but Serra gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Pok is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Serra throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Pok because Serra loaded up on that one. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pok can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Pok blocking the ground and pound. Pok is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Serra prevents Pok from getting the reversal. Pok tries to lock up and control but Serra gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Serra looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Serra wants to control the pace but Pok is squirming around nicely. Serra working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Pok turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Serra off and cradles Pok's limp body as Serra celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Matts Serra!
