And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soares throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Soares scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Soares looks to score with a jab to the body but Volkov is just out of range.
Volkov fails with a takedown attempt.
Soares misses with a wild combination.
A looping hook to the body misses from Soares. Volkov does a little dance to reset his feet.
Volkov dives in and grabs Soares's left leg, looking for a takedown. Soares pushes down on Volkov's head and hops out.
Soares throws a hook to the side of Volkov's head but Volkov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Soares throws a right and a left that Volkov avoids nicely.
No joy there for Soares, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Soares misses the jab.
Volkov avoids the body shot from Soares.

Volkov takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Volkov on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Soares throws a looping overhand right but Volkov ducks down to avoid it.
Volkov avoids the body shot from Soares.
Volkov lands with a hook. Soares tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Soares throws a predictable looking body shot
and Volkov counters with a nice body shot.
The fighters circling - Volkov throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Volkov scores with a takedown into Soares's guard.

Volkov is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Soares had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Volkov defends it easily.
Volkov sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Soares's guard.
Volkov works his foot free and advances to mount.
Soares regains half guard.
Soares is trying to get back to full guard.

Volkov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Soares is just riding it out for now. Volkov eventually gives up the hold.

Volkov is looking for a kimura but Soares is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Volkov to get the leverage.
Volkov is breathing heavily.

Soares looking for a triangle here. Volkov is fighting it but it looks tight! Soares pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Volkov is tapping out - this one is all over!
