Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Benigno Aquino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Benigno Aquino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Drake !
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drake shoots in but Aquino avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Drake shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Aquino's guard.
Aquino controls Drake momentarily but Drake frees himself.
Drake drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Aquino manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Drake has Aquino in his guard.
Aquino wants to control from the top but Drake keeps moving.
Aquino in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aquino has gone for a leg lock! Drake slips out almost immediately though and dives into Aquino's guard.
Drake drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Drake jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Aquino could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Drake is working for a submission of some sort.
Drake prevents Aquino from improving his position.
Drake looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Drake wants to work for an arm triangle but Aquino is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Drake is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Drake is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Aquino wants to get back to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Aquino has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Drake is proving hard to escape from.

Drake postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Aquino is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Drake , into his guard.
Drake is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Aquino throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Drake works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Drake wants to sweep but no luck.
Aquino postures up in Drake 's guard and throws a big left but Drake blocks it.
Aquino trying to control the position from guard on top but Drake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Aquino is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Drake is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Drake gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Aquino counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Drake !
Aquino lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Aquino pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Drake avoids a series of strikes thrown by Aquino.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Aquino uses his free foot to push down on Drake 's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Drake .
Aquino fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Aquino has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Aquino takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Drake is trying desperately to improve position.
Aquino wants to control the pace but Drake is squirming around nicely.
Drake wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Aquino.
Aquino swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Drake is now in Aquino's guard. A big mistake from Aquino there, giving up the dominant position!

David Drake comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Drake has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
