PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tiziano Cantamessa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Cantamessa might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Sacred Worlds (Blind Guardian). Paul Peterson will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tiziano Cantamessa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Paul Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shigeki Sano and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Peterson drops Cantamessa with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Cantamessa looks back up at him and smiles so Peterson waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Cantamessa is rocked!


It looks like Tiziano Cantamessa has been cut.
Peterson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Oh Cantamessa is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cantamessa shoots in and drives through. Peterson sprawls well.
Peterson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cantamessa.
Cantamessa loads up on a big right hand but Peterson slips the punch.

Cantamessa wants to hold on but Peterson pushes him away.
Peterson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Despite being in the dominant position, Paul Peterson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That was a close round but I would say that Tiziano Cantamessa will probably get the nod.

Cantamessa throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Cantamessa does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Cantamessa shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Peterson sprawls well. Peterson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cantamessa gets slowly back to his feet.

Cantamessa lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Peterson down.

Cantamessa looks up at the clock and then as Peterson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Cantamessa smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Cantamessa seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Peterson for as long as he can get away with.
Cantamessa's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cantamessa, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
