Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dirt Down (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Grey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dirt Down!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Grey!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Hugh Johnson and Steve Erwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grey scores with a sloppy right hand. Down should have avoided that one.
Down shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Grey sprawls well. Grey wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Down gets slowly back to his feet.
Grey jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Grey tries to close the distance and clinch but Down swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A big right from Grey misses.
Grey looks to land a left hand but Down moved out of range nicely.

and Down counters with a shoot takedown. Grey fights it but they end up in guard.
Grey tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Down drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Down jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Grey escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Down gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Down lands a couple of digs.
Down in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Grey looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Down sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Grey's guard.

Grey avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Down.
Grey tries to get to full guard but Down has control of the leg.
Grey wants to control but Down is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Nice strikes from Down there.
Grey is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Down slips a nice elbow through Grey's hands, connecting with Grey's forehead.
Grey makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Grey.
Grey not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Down with a flurry of punches that miss.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Grey had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Down defends it easily.
Grey is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Grey is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Grey prevents Down from standing back up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Grey lands strikes from half guard.
Down moves into full guard.

Down is looking for a triangle but Grey pushes his legs off easily.

Down has his foot on Grey's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Grey works his way back into a safe position though.
Down is breathing heavily.
Grey working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Grey trying to control the position from guard on top but Down is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Down has momentary wrist control but Grey slips an elbow through the middle.

Down looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Down can't keep his opponent in guard - Grey advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Grey connects with a nice short shot to Down's temple.
Down wants to control but Grey is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Down looking for submissions off his back.
Grey looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Grey frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Grey looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
