Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gustav Gustafsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Dryupp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gustafsson comes to the cage accompanied by Dark Tranquility - The Final Resistance. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gustav Gustafsson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Ricky Dryupp! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dryupp scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Dryupp wants to control but Gustafsson is keeping him busy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dryupp missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Dryupp throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Gustafsson pushes Dryupp off and gets back to his feet. Gustafsson missing with a left hand there. Dryupp was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Gustafsson misses with the combination.
Gustafsson bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Gustafsson thows a body shot but no joy. Gustafsson tries to bum rush Dryupp with a series of wild strikes but Dryupp uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Gustafsson throws a series of punches but Dryupp moves out of range. Excellent takedown into side control there by Dryupp. Gustafsson holds on to Dryupp's head and controls the position momentarily. Dryupp working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dryupp goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Gustafsson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Dryupp but great work by Gustafsson. You can see the frustration on Dryupp's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Dryupp is looking to regain half guard here but Gustafsson keeps moving and retains side control. Dryupp looks gassed! Gustafsson stands up and beckons Dryupp to his feet. Dryupp slips under a jab from Gustafsson.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Dryupp shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gustafsson's guard. Gustafsson wants to stand but Dryupp is controlling the position. Gustafsson has control of Dryupp's left arm, preventing Dryupp from doing any damage. Dryupp drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gustafsson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gustafsson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gustafsson! Gustafsson works to advance to full mount. Dryupp defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Dryupp tries to reverse the position but Gustafsson maintains control. Dryupp wants to hold on but Gustafsson pushes him away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dryupp is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Gustafsson controlling the position easily from mount. Gustafsson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Dryupp gets back to half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Gustav Gustafsson. Gustafsson misses with a straight right. Dryupp closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gustafsson circles away. Dryupp closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Dryupp keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Gustafsson. Gustafsson lands a glancing blow to the side of Dryupp's head. Gustafsson lands with a nice body punch. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gustafsson rushes Dryupp with punches - Dryupp moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Dryupp goes down! Gustafsson follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gustav Gustafsson! Gustav Gustafsson retains his bantamweight title!
