Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bovver Meerten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and cain velazques (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bovver Meerten!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
velazques feints and as Meerten raises his hands in defense, velazques changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
velazques working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Meerten is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and velazques defends well.
velazques trying to move into half guard but instead Meerten has managed to sweep!
Meerten drops back looking for a leg! velazques is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and velazques manages to kick Meerten off! Meerten jumps back into velazques's guard.
Meerten is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! velazques is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! velazques has escaped and now he's on top!
velazques postures up in Meerten's guard and throws a big left but Meerten blocks it.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Meerten utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Meerten is trying to control the position but velazques postures up.
Meerten is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and velazques counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Meerten's guard now.

velazques should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Meerten is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But velazques has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from velazques!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Meerten wants to control from the top but velazques keeps moving.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
velazques moves out of range of the body kick from Meerten.
Meerten tries a head kick but it misses.
Meerten fails with the takedown
and velazques counters with a three punch combo that has Meerten backing up. Meerten nods at velazques to acknowledge the strikes.

Meerten throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fight stays on the outside here - Meerten looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
velazques shoots in for a takedown but Meerten shows good takedown defense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Meerten misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and velazques counters with a single leg into guard. Meerten didn't expect that.
velazques takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

velazques is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Meerten scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Meerten tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but velazques paws at him with a jab and circles away.

velazques shoots in and drives through. Meerten sprawls well.

Meerten throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Meerten lands a glancing blow to the side of velazques's head.

and velazques decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Meerten's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Meerten is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but velazques frees his head nicely. Oh but Meerten has switched to an armbar! velazques is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
