The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nechvidov clinches up against the cage.

Cavalli wants to control from the top but Nechvidov keeps moving.
Nechvidov has control of Cavalli's left arm, preventing Cavalli from doing any damage.
Cavalli trying to control but Nechvidov is working from the bottom.
Nechvidov has his hands on Cavalli's head, controlling the position.
Nechvidov's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Nechvidov wants to stand but Cavalli is controlling the position.

Cavalli knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nechvidov on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nechvidov is looking for a kimura but Cavalli is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nechvidov to get the leverage.
Nechvidov works his foot free and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nechvidov throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cavalli avoids a series of strikes thrown by Nechvidov.

Nechvidov working for a submission but Cavalli is keeping him at bay.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Cavalli tries to clinch up

and Nechvidov counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cavalli won't be happy with that.

and Nechvidov counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Cavalli!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cavalli wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Nechvidov.
Cavalli is looking to improve his position but Nechvidov isn't that keen on the idea.

Nechvidov has hold of Cavalli's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Cavalli manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Cavalli tries to hold on but Nechvidov postures up.
Nechvidov content just to control the position here.
Cavalli wants to hold on but Nechvidov pushes him away.

Nik Nechvidov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Cavalli's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Nechvidov has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Cavalli wants to control but Nechvidov is keeping busy.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Nechvidov throws a strike but Cavalli avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Nechvidov stands up from Cavalli's guard - Nechvidov perhaps looking for a knockout.

and Nechvidov counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Cavalli can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Roberto Cavalli.

and Nechvidov counters with a good low kick that Cavalli was not able to check.
Nechvidov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cavalli sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nechvidov somewhat.

Roberto Cavalli has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nik Nechvidov.

Nechvidov gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Nechvidov jumps guard but Cavalli stands there with Nechvidov around his waist. Nechvidov gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Nik Nechvidov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Nechvidov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
