Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tony Baloney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Sobral! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sobral looks to score with a jab to the body but Baloney is just out of range. Baloney misses with an uppercut. Sobral moves away from the strike by Baloney. Sobral looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Baloney misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sobral.
Baloney with a hook. Sobral closes the distance and clinches up with Baloney, looking for a takedown. Sobral pushes Baloney against the cage but Baloney circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Baloney jabbing away but nothing is landing. Sobral fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Nice takedown defense from Baloney. No joy for Sobral on that attempt. Tony Baloney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Sobral. Sobral bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Sobral is looking to clinch but Baloney is avoiding it.
Sobral takes a body punch but keeps moving. Jason Sobral seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sobral moves away from the strike by Baloney. Sobral will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sobral dives in and grabs Baloney's left leg, looking for a takedown. Baloney pushes down on Sobral's head and hops out. Sobral takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Sobral drops his hands momentarily and Baloney takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Baloney looks to throw the jab but Sobral is out of range. Baloney rushes Sobral with punches - Sobral moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Sobral goes down! Baloney follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tony Baloney!
