Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Villareal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bobby Washington! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Franklyn Lucas and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice straight punches there by Villareal. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Villareal. Villareal looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Washington! Washington tries to hold on but Villareal pushes him away. Washington can't escape the position.
Villareal throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Washington flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Washington defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Villareal. Washington tries to hold on but Villareal pushes him away. Washington is desperately trying to improve his position but Villareal has a good base and remains in mount. A nice elbow there by Villareal.
It looks like Bobby Washington has been cut. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Washington holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Villareal tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Washington is trying to escape the mount.
Villareal working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Villareal is breathing heavily. Washington wants to hold on but Villareal pushes him away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Washington working to try and regain half guard.
Villareal working for a submission but Washington is keeping him at bay. Villareal has control of Washington's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Washington regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Villareal has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Washington is looking to get to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Washington is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Villareal takes Washington's back. Washington is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Villareal gets his way!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Washington has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Villareal. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Washington is really stuck here.
Washington trying to control the action but Villareal just sinks the hooks in.

Villareal is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Washington with him. Washington is trying to defend but Villareal has an arm under the chin now! Washington grimaces and is forced to tap out!
