PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Berkovicz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Drysdale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Berkovicz kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Undertaker Song. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Berkovicz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bobby Drysdale!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paulsen Ambrosius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Drysdale clinches up against the cage.
Drysdale throws a head punch that misses.

Berkovicz breaks the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Berkovicz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Berkovicz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Drysdale.
Mike Berkovicz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Berkovicz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A combination from Berkovicz does no damage.
Drysdale keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Berkovicz.
Drysdale shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Berkovicz as he jumps to the side.

Drysdale changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Berkovicz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Drysdale tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Drysdale's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Berkovicz gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Drysdale decides to return to a standing position.
A right-left combo lands from Berkovicz.

Drysdale seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Berkovicz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Drysdale frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Berkovicz is trying to escape the mount.

Drysdale is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Drysdale goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Berkovicz is on top in guard.
Berkovicz wants to stand but Drysdale is controlling his posture from full guard.
Drysdale tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Drysdale wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Drysdale wants to get back to his feet but Berkovicz is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Berkovicz moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Drysdale tries to clinch but Berkovicz moves away
letting Berkovicz counter with a right hand.
Berkovicz throws a series of punches but Drysdale moves out of range.
Berkovicz moves out of range of the body kick from Drysdale.

Drysdale has taken the fight to the clinch.
Berkovicz has had enough of the clinch but Drysdale keeps him there for the moment.

Berkovicz tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Berkovicz has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Drysdale is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Berkovicz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Drysdale throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Berkovicz.
Drysdale scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Berkovicz doesn't seem bothered though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Berkovicz presses Drysdale against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Drysdale drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Drysdale prevents Berkovicz from breaking the clinch.

Well, if Drysdale is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Drysdale is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Drysdale is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Drysdale changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Berkovicz tries to avoid it but Drysdale manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Berkovicz to the ground. Berkovicz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mike Berkovicz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Drysdale.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Drysdale is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Berkovicz's shoulder. That is not cool.

Bobby Drysdale showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


Drysdale tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Drysdale shoots in and bounces Berkovicz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Drysdale thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Drysdale trying to control the position from guard on top but Berkovicz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Drysdale slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Drysdale is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Drysdale looks for a takedown but Berkovicz sprawls well.
Berkovicz fails in his attempt to clinch.
Berkovicz misses with a head kick.
Berkovicz throws a right and a left that both miss.

Drysdale feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Berkovicz can't keep his opponent in guard - Drysdale advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Bobby Drysdale comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Drysdale winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
