PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Andok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Do (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andok's entrance music is "Libre" by Tristania. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rodrigo Andok!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Billy Do!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yuuki Gou and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Do fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Andok sprawls well initially but Do persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Andok is looking to improve his position.

Andok actively working from the bottom here.
Do is trying to control the action in half guard but Andok is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Do looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Do is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Andok is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Do pulls his head out easily.
Andok is looking to improve his position.
Andok trying to hold on to Do's head to control him but Do postures up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Do shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Andok is trying to defend but Do finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Andok looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Andok gets back to full guard.

Andok is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Do is aware though and is defending well.
Do stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Andok swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Do is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Do thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Do throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Andok works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Andok working for a triangle but Do defends it easily.
Do throwing strikes but missing.
Andok utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Andok working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Do doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Do manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Andok had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Do defends it easily.
Andok is breathing heavily.

Do trying to control but Andok is working from the bottom.
Do forces his way into half guard.
Do missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Do decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Do fails in his attempt to clinch.

Do is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Andok's half guard.
Andok works his way to full guard. Good work.

Andok looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Andok has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Do can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Billy Do dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Do feints and as Andok raises his hands in defense, Do changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Andok is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Do defends well.

Andok escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Do gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Do sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Andok's guard.

Andok looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Do with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Do is looking to take a break and control but Andok is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Do throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Do decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Do closes this distance looking for a takedown but Andok circles away.
Do tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Andok swivels and escapes.

Do throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Andok was covering up waiting for the punch and Do finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Do trying to control the position from guard on top but Andok is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Andok is working an open guard so Do takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Do feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Andok looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Do has picked Andok up and slammed him! Andok can't keep hold of the triangle and Do manages to pass to side control!

Do tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Do has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Do scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Andok to see if he's OK.
Andok tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Andok makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Andok.

Do lands a couple of digs.

Do avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Do forces his way into half guard.
Do is looking to advance position but Andok won't allow it.
Do thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Andok's head.
Do content to control rather than advance.

Andok is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Do pulls his head out easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Billy Do showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
