Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gerard Sminth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Neil Cadwallader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sminth comes to the cage accompanied by Kanye West - Homecoming. Gerard Sminth has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cadwallader lands with a nice body punch.
Cadwallader drives through and clinches with Sminth against the cage.
Sminth is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Cadwallader pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Sminth drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Cadwallader gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Sminth changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Cadwallader fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Cadwallader postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cadwallader throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Sminth is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Cadwallader decides to stand back up. Cadwallader steps back and let's Sminth get back to his feet.
Sminth changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cadwallader looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sminth wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cadwallader keeps working.
Sminth tries to move to mount but Cadwallader blocks the move with his legs.
Cadwallader tries to bench press Sminth off him but Sminth keeps the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cadwallader can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cadwallader wants to control but Sminth postures up.
Cadwallader is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Cadwallader pushes Sminth off looking to stand but Sminth dives back in and keeps control.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cadwallader lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sminth circles away quickly and effectively.

and Sminth counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Cadwallader tries to land a front kick but Sminth steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Cadwallader closes the distance and clinches up with Sminth, looking for a takedown. Cadwallader pushes Sminth against the cage but Sminth circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cadwallader working over Sminth with some ground and pound. Sminth looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

and Sminth counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cadwallader won't be happy with that.

Sminth is trying to move to mount but Cadwallader reverses beautifully and ends up in Sminth's guard.
