Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Corey Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trey Dakota (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Taylor comes to the cage accompanied by Dark Tranquillity - Therein. Corey Taylor has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Corey Taylor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Trey Dakota!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Taylor scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Taylor swings around for an armbar but Dakota sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Taylor's guard.
Dakota is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Taylor looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Dakota is stalling in the full guard.

Taylor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dakota doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dakota manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Taylor has his foot on Dakota's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dakota works his way back into a safe position though.

Dakota got a little sloppy there for a moment and Taylor has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dakota has managed to get both his arms back between Taylor's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dakota tries to stand but Taylor is controlling from the bottom.

Taylor has his foot on Dakota's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dakota works his way back into a safe position though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Taylor escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dakota gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Taylor wants to sweep here but Dakota controlling him for the moment.
Taylor striking off his back but it's not causing Dakota any problems.

Taylor is looking for a triangle but Dakota pushes his legs off easily.
Taylor might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Dakota decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Taylor shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Taylor working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Dakota's head.

Taylor postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dakota is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Taylor, into his guard.
Taylor is breathing heavily.

Taylor is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Taylor looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Taylor is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dakota is aware though and is defending well.
Dakota is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Taylor tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dakota trying to control the position from guard on top but Taylor is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Corey Taylor dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Taylor bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Dakota throws a body punch but Taylor moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Taylor is defended easily by Dakota.
Trey Dakota seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dakota avoids the head kick by Taylor.
Dakota throws an overhand right that lands on Taylor's shoulder, as Taylor tries to avoid the shot.
Taylor fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Dakota waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Taylor.
Taylor shoots in for a double leg but Dakota sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Corey Taylor. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dakota lands with a straight right. Taylor didn't see that one coming.

Taylor looks to land a strike but Dakota avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Dakota controls Taylor momentarily but Taylor frees himself.
Taylor postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Dakota is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Dakota content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Taylor goes for a takedown attempt but Dakota pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Taylor shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dakota as he jumps to the side.
Dakota stuffs the takedown.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Taylor uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Dakota.
Dakota lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Dakota scores with a nice head shot.
Dakota with a jab.
Taylor seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Dakota shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Taylor is backing up but Dakota catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Taylor covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Dakota Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Trey Dakota!
