Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Randy Griffin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Trapezius Milkington! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Griffin just misses with a punch to the body.
Griffin throws a lazy right hand but Milkington sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Milkington moves forwards but Griffin connects with a nice, crisp jab. Griffin throws an overhand right that lands on Milkington's shoulder, as Milkington tries to avoid the shot. Griffin takes a shot right to the bread basket. Nice shot lands for Milkington.
It looks like Randy Griffin has been cut. Griffin lands a jab to the head.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Milkington fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Griffin sprawls well initially but Milkington persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Milkington is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Griffin sees it coming and defends easily. Griffin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Milkington on the ground. Griffin is staying active underneath Milkington, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Milkington is pressing down on Griffin's thigh, looking to free his foot. Griffin is holding on for now. Milkington frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Griffin avoids a series of strikes thrown by Milkington.
Griffin is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Griffin trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Milkington working away from the top, dropping strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Milkington cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Griffin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Griffin tries to get out of the position. Milkington fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Milkington with a couple of short strikes. Milkington lands a heavy elbow.
Griffin is rocked! Milkington working the ground and pound effectively.
Oh Griffin is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Milkington lands a big shot to the head and Griffin winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
