PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between TJ Lavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Raymonds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Daniel Raymonds was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, TJ Lavin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniel Raymonds!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lavin blocks a head kick by Raymonds.
Raymonds misses with a body kick.
Raymonds lands a head kick!
Raymonds keeps Lavin at a distance using the push kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lavin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
The fighters circling - Lavin throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Raymonds fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Lavin.
Raymonds throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lavin.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Raymonds throws a sloppy head kick and Lavin moves out of range easily.
Lavin fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Lavin has a takedown stuffed.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Lavin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Raymonds avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for TJ Lavin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A combination from Raymonds does no damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Lavin scores a takedown into full mount!
Lavin avoids the attempt from Raymonds to control.

Lavin goes for an armbar but Raymonds turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Raymonds.
Raymonds lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lavin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Lavin is looking for a triangle but Raymonds pushes his legs off easily.

Lavin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Raymonds dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Lavin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Raymonds circles away.
Raymonds lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lavin circles away quickly and effectively.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lavin blocks a head kick by Raymonds.

Nice body kick there by Raymonds.
A chopping leg kick lands by Raymonds.
A head kick misses from Raymonds.
Raymonds doesn't manage to clinch there - Lavin circles away.

Lavin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A jab from Lavin misses.
Raymonds tries a head kick but it misses.
Raymonds tries to bum rush Lavin with a series of wild strikes but Lavin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Raymonds scores with a head kick.
A head kick misses from Raymonds.
Lavin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Raymonds is fending him off so far but Lavin persists. Nope, Raymonds circles away and we're back to standing.

A head kick misses from Raymonds.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lavin.
Raymonds throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Raymonds showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


Raymonds tries to work over Lavin's front leg with a kick but Lavin checks it.
Raymonds tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lavin takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lavin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lavin seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Raymonds has recovered full guard.

Lavin has gone for a leg lock! Raymonds slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lavin's guard.
Lavin looking for a sweep. Not yet Lavin, not yet.
Raymonds throwing strikes from guard but Lavin blocks nicely.
Raymonds must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Raymonds has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Lavin to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Raymonds is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Lavin pulls down on the head and he's put Raymonds to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:04 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). TJ Lavin!
