The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Vries pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Howard feints and then cracks De Vries's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow De Vries down.
Howard tries to clinch up.
Howard tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Christian Howard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
De Vries keeps the fight on the outside.

De Vries swats away the attempt to clinch by Howard.
Howard closes the distance and clinches up with De Vries, looking for a takedown. Howard pushes De Vries against the cage but De Vries circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
De Vries leaves Howard with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Howard tries to bum rush De Vries with a series of wild strikes but De Vries uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Howard goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Howard looks to clinch
and De Vries counters with a head kick that crumples his opponent - he's in a world of trouble! De Vries looks at the referee who does nothing so De Vries lands a crushing right that sends Howard to the floor! This time the ref steps in to end the fight.
