Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bas Rutten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Jimmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bas Rutten!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ryan Jimmo!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutten showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jimmo.
Rutten swats away the attempt to clinch by Jimmo.
Jimmo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rutten swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jimmo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jimmo tries to close the distance and clinch but Rutten swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Rutten has managed to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jimmo is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Jimmo tries to land a knee to the head but Rutten blocks with his arms.

Rutten wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jimmo, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rutten swings around for an armbar but Jimmo sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Rutten's guard.

Jimmo is looking to stand up but Rutten won't let him.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jimmo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rutten swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jimmo clinches but Rutten breaks the clinch

and Rutten counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jimmo!

Rutten has hold of Jimmo's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jimmo manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Rutten misses with a head shot.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rutten goes for an armbar but Jimmo turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Jimmo.
Jimmo wants to stand but Rutten has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bas Rutten dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Rutten obliges.

Jimmo is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Jimmo is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Rutten has denied him.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jimmo is looking to control Rutten's arms but Rutten gets an underhook and turns him. Now Jimmo has his back to the cage.
Jimmo is persisting with his attempts to control the action in the clinch, rather than do any real damage.

Jimmo tries to stall but Rutten uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Ryan Jimmo.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Rutten creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Rutten lands with a light punch inside.

Rutten is struggling to control the position.
Rutten unloads a knee to the mid-section. Jimmo lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Jimmo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Jimmo wants to get up but he can't break Rutten's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Rutten fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jimmo avoids it really well and circles away.

Rutten jumps guard and drags Jimmo to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Jimmo wants to stand and escape but instead Rutten has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Rutten postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jimmo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rutten, into his guard.
Rutten seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rutten is on top in guard.

Jimmo wriggles free and stands up.
Jimmo tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Rutten counters with a shoot takedown. Jimmo fights it but they end up in guard.
Jimmo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Rutten is looking to advance position but Jimmo has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rutten is squirming around, avoiding Jimmo's attempts to control the action.
Rutten wants to control but Jimmo is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jimmo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rutten is looking to escape.
Jimmo controlling his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bas Rutten showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rutten, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
