Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ville Kuukkeli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pavlos Stathis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kuukkeli comes to the cage accompanied by a-ha - Take On Me. Stathis has chosen Testament - Eyes of Wrath as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuukkeli closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kuukkeli lands in his opponent's guard.

Kuukkeli has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Stathis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kuukkeli is looking to advance position but Stathis has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Stathis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kuukkeli. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kuukkeli is squirming around, avoiding Stathis's attempts to control the action.
Stathis tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Kuukkeli is desperately trying to improve his position but Stathis has a good base and remains in mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kuukkeli regains half guard.
Kuukkeli landing small, sideways elbows.
Stathis blocks the strikes from Kuukkeli.
It looks like Stathis is going to stand back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Stathis tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Stathis tries a head kick but it misses.
No joy there for Stathis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kuukkeli changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Stathis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Kuukkeli postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Kuukkeli tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
A lull in the action here as Kuukkeli stalls from top position.
Stathis is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Kuukkeli asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kuukkeli tries to score with some ground and pound. Stathis controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Kuukkeli frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Stathis misses with a jab, cross combination.
Stathis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kuukkeli closes the distance and clinches.
Kuukkeli lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
It looks like Pavlos Stathis has been cut.
Kuukkeli has Stathis pressed against the cage.
Kuukkeli prevents Stathis from breaking the clinch.

Kuukkeli has Stathis pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Kuukkeli pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Stathis tumbling to the mat - Kuukkeli dives into Stathis's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kuukkeli throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stathis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kuukkeli wants to control from the top but Stathis keeps moving.
Kuukkeli looking to sit in guard and control but Stathis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Kuukkeli is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Stathis has his hands clasped together but Kuukkeli extends an breaks Stathis's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Kuukkeli.
