Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Luis Cordoba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terrance Pingshaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pingshaw is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Heart of a Champion. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Terrance Pingshaw was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Luis Cordoba! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Terrance Pingshaw! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cordoba closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cordoba is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pingshaw defends it well. Cordoba looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Cordoba is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Pingshaw is surviving well by controlling Cordoba's body position as best he can. Pingshaw is trying desperately to improve position. Pingshaw sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Cordoba is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pingshaw sees it coming and defends easily. Cordoba is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Pingshaw!

Cordoba is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Pingshaw defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Pingshaw manages to reverse the position and now he's in Cordoba's guard. Nice work there by Pingshaw.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Pingshaw is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cordoba is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cordoba has escaped and now he's on top! Pingshaw looking for a guillotine here but Cordoba defends easily.

Pingshaw misses with a takedown attempt and Cordoba counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pingshaw won't be happy with that. Cordoba wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pingshaw keeps working. Cordoba swings around for an armbar but Pingshaw sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Cordoba's guard. Pingshaw stands and throws Cordoba's legs to the side, diving into side control. Pingshaw looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Cordoba can't do much from the bottom here. Cordoba tries to improve position but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pingshaw goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Cordoba has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pingshaw but great work by Cordoba. Cordoba swings around for an armbar but Pingshaw sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Cordoba's guard. Cordoba manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pingshaw manages to get himself to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pingshaw is breathing heavily. Cordoba advances to half guard. Pingshaw actively working from the bottom here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cordoba wants to control but Pingshaw is keeping him busy. Cordoba is looking to stall here but Pingshaw recovers full guard. Pingshaw looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Luis Cordoba dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Pingshaw doesn't succeed with the takedown and Cordoba counters with a lovely shot to the body. Pingshaw fails with the takedown and Pingshaw takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Terrance Pingshaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cordoba drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Luis Cordoba overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cordoba tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Cordoba is looking to take a break and control but Pingshaw is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Pingshaw gets full guard. Cordoba tries to free his leg and advance position but Pingshaw is retaining full guard. Pingshaw throws his legs up looking for a submission but Cordoba uses it to pass to side control.
Pingshaw is not content to let Cordoba control the position. Cordoba tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cordoba has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Terrance Pingshaw has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pingshaw gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Cordoba passes the guard and advances to mount! Cordoba works his way to his opponent's back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Pingshaw is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
You can see the frustration on Pingshaw's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

And that's the end of the fight! Luis Cordoba showed his dominance in that final round. Well Cordoba has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
