Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miyamoto Usagi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timothy Kershaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Timothy Kershaw is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miyamoto Usagi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Timothy Kershaw! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Lou da Vinci and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Usagi moves out of range as Kershaw strikes. Kershaw tests Usagi's chin there with a solid looking shot.
It looks like Miyamoto Usagi has been cut. Usagi is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kershaw's half guard. Usagi wants to free his trapped foot but Kershaw is holding on for dear life with his legs. Usagi controlling the pace. Usagi is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kershaw has managed to free his arm - good work. Usagi controlling the action here. Usagi throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
That's one minute gone in the round. Usagi wants to work for an arm triangle but Kershaw is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Usagi uses his free foot to push down on Kershaw's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kershaw. Usagi jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Kershaw manages to avoid the submission attempt. Kershaw is not content to let Usagi control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Usagi tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Usagi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Usagi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kershaw keeps working. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kershaw can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Usagi wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kershaw, who protects the arm well. Usagi working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Kershaw avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Usagi.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Kershaw is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Usagi asserts his dominance and retains side control. Usagi has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Kershaw is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Usagi yanks on the arm and Kershaw is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Usagi.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Miyamoto Usagi!
