Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johny Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barney Fife (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burns comes to the cage accompanied by "Firestarter" by The Prodigy. On his way into the cage it seems that Johny Burns has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Johny Burns seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johny Burns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barney Fife!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns misses with a low kick.
Fife tries a head kick but it misses.
A bone on bone clash there as Burns blocks the leg kick.
Burns tries to close the distance and clinch but Fife swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Fife throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Burns's head.
Fife feints and then cracks Burns's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Burns down.

and Burns counters with a nice double leg into side control. Fife won't be happy with that.

Burns is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fife knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Burns creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Fife sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Burns has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Fife throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Burns blocks it with crossed arms.

Burns lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Fife down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fife is bucking up trying to escape but Burns cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Burns goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Fife is on top in guard.

Burns is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

and Burns counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Fife throws a looping overhand right but Burns ducks down to avoid it.

Fife swats away the attempt to clinch by Burns.
Fife bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Burns's head backwards.

Fife is looking to clinch but Burns is avoiding it.

and Burns counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Barney Fife is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Burns counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Burns closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Burns is keen to just control but Fife is a slippery customer.

Burns wants to work for an arm triangle but Fife is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Fife tries to kick Burns off in order to stand up. Burns Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Fife does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Barney Fife showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Burns accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Fife had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Burns defends it easily.
Fife working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Burns doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Burns manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fife has his foot on Burns's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Burns works his way back into a safe position though.

I would just about give that final round to Barney Fife.
I think Fife has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
