The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McDonald shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Shachner's guard.

Shachner looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Shachner working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McDonald doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McDonald manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

McDonald wants to pass to mount but Shachner is defending the position.

McDonald looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Shachner gets back to full guard.
McDonald looking to sit in guard and control but Shachner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
McDonald is looking to sweep but instead, Shachner has passed into half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McDonald tries to roll over but Shachner keeps him under control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

McDonald is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Shachner has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for McDonald! Can he survive? No! He's out! Shachner gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
