PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ian Beale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Dale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ian Beale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jason Dale!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beale uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Dale.
A looping hook to the body misses from Beale. Dale does a little dance to reset his feet.

Dale scores with a takedown into Beale's guard.
Dale trying to stand up but can't free himself from Beale's guard.
Dale trying to control but Beale is working from the bottom.
Dale prevents Beale from getting back to his feet.
Dale is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beale wants to stand and escape but Dale is having none of it.

Beale looks like he's trying to stand up.

Dale postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Beale to stand up.

Dale misses with a series of wild punches.
Dale tries to clinch up but Beale circles away and keeps his distance.
Beale throws and low kick but Dale moves out of range easily.

Beale clinches up with Dale and pushes him back against the cage.

Dale is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Beale can't fight it off and eventually Dale manages to take the fight to the floor. Beale looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Beale is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Dale wants to pass the guard but Beale is keeping the position.

Dale won't allow Beale to get back to his feet.

Dale decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Beale pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dale misses with a body kick.
Dale will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Beale throws a head kick that misses.
Dale avoids the head kick by Beale.
Ian Beale is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Dale drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Dale controls the position.

Beale is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Dale has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Beale is breathing heavily.

Dale decides to stand back up.
A head kick by Dale misses
and Beale counters with a straight right hand.

Dale drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Beale wants to stand but Dale is controlling the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Dale decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Beale, up you get!

Dale bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jason Dale dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Beale looks to score with a jab to the body but Dale is just out of range.

Beale throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Beale lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Beale.
Dale takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Beale really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Dale breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Beale misses with a double jab

and Dale counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Beale tries to kick Dale off but Dale keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Dale is looking to advance position but Beale won't allow it.
Dale is trying to control. Beale wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Dale working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Beale avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ian Beale is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Beale missing with a left hand there. Dale was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Dale changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Beale looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Dale takes a little break here. Beale wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Dale throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Dale drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Beale is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Dale has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Dale content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Dale is looking to land body kicks.
Beale throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Beale counters with a good low kick that Dale was not able to check.
Beale lands a right hook to the body.
Beale tries to close the distance and clinch but Dale swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Dale pushes Beale up against the cage in a clinch.

Beale has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dale is proving hard to escape from.

Dale is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Beale is aware though and is defending well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dale has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Beale can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jason Dale showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

and Beale counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Dale shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Dale was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Dale won't let Beale get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Dale misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Beale tries to buck Dale off but he can't manage it.

Dale jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Beale manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Beale is pushing Dale's head away, looking to escape. Dale manages to hold on to the position though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Dale has managed to clinch.
A body shot lands from Dale.
Dale has had enough of the clinch but Beale keeps him there for the moment.

Dale lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Beale looks like he's trying to stand up.

Beale kicks Dale off and gets back to his feet.

Dale pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dale looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Beale ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Beale misses with a straight right.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dale looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Beale tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Beale shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

and Dale counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Dale is pressing down on Beale's thigh, looking to free his foot. Beale is holding on for now.

Dale is trying to control the action in half guard but Beale is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Beale is defending against the submission attempts here by Dale.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A left and a right from Beale both land. Nice combination.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Beale takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Dale lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Beale has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Beale and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Dale wants to clinch.
Dale is looking to clinch but Beale is avoiding it.
Beale scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Dale doesn't seem bothered though.
Beale stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Beale wants it to stay on the feet.
Ian Beale has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jason Dale is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Dale wants to clinch but Beale slips to the side
and Beale counters with a one-two to the body.

Jason Dale comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Dale winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
