Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Ennis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rush Syckes!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Skip Squint and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Syckes throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Syckes scores with a jab to the jaw.


It looks like James Ennis has been cut.
Syckes is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Ennis shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ennis showed some decent athleticism there.
Ennis sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Syckes defending well though.
Ennis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Syckes's head.

Ennis is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Ennis is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Syckes preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Ennis wants to work for an arm triangle but Syckes is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Ennis seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Ennis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Ennis is trying to control. Syckes wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Ennis stops Syckes from getting back to his feet.
Syckes blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ennis.
Syckes is looking to improve his position.

Ennis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Ennis is breathing heavily.
Syckes wants to get back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Syckes lands the left hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Syckes leaves Ennis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Syckes scores with a nice head shot.
Ennis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Syckes lands a jab to Ennis's midsection.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Syckes!
Syckes scores with a three punch combo!
Left hook, right uppercut from Syckes.
Syckes dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Syckes throws an overhand right that drops Ennis like a sack of potatoes! Syckes dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rush Syckes!
