The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierce rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wilder moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Pierce misses with a looping right.
Wilder closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Wilder tries for a takedown but Pierce manages to get underhooks.
Pierce gets underhooks to prevent Wilder's takedown attempt.
Pierce is looking to break free of the clinch but Wilder has double underhooks.
Wilder manages to break the clinch.
Pierce is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Wilder closes the distance and clinches up with Pierce, looking for a takedown. Wilder pushes Pierce against the cage but Pierce circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Koufax Pierce has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Wilder.
Wilder closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Pierce tries to improve position but can't.
Wilder tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Pierce is trying to control Wilder's posture but Wilder avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Wilder in side control, throwing shots but Pierce defends.
Wilder working the ground and pound but Pierce is defending the strikes.
Wilder is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pierce knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Pierce wants to control but Wilder postures up.
Pierce avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Wilder.
Wilder has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Pierce is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Wilder yanks on the arm and Pierce is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Wilder.
